Beulah
Switch Rod Series.
"the
most versatile rod on the planet"
To
just look and feel the Switch rod alone would not do it justice,
first impressions and you might think it was a pure salmon
double handed fly rod. You couldn't be further from the truth,
in the hand this rod is as easy to cast single handed as it
is to use as a double handed rod. That's why it's unique,
it's been designed to do that.
For the single hander the length of the grip and butt act
as a lever to reduce fatigue as well as assisting with the
forward stop. For those without a hauling technique, you can
over head cast with both hands to punch tremendous lengths
of line at will.
For the double handed salmon angler, given that the 10' 6"
length is appropriate for the size of river you expect to
fish, it's as adaptable as any other salmon rod and will deliver
amongst others, a whole range of single and double spey casts.
The
Beulah switch rod has been developed for Beulah by Bob Meiser
of RB Meiser
Fly rods of Medford, Oregon, USA. Bob has worked
for many 1000's of hours to develop and fine tune this style
of rod. The result of his labour is:
" the most versatile rod on the planet"
Each
rod is 10' 6", 4 piece construction of a blend of IM8
Graphite. This blend positions the fibres to maximise the
strength in each section of the rod.The versatility of the
rod is further enhanced by our 2 hand grip system.
These
rods are light and boat friendly and are a great alaternative
to spey rods.
This
is the ultimate rod for most freshwater and coastal fishing
situations.

Line
Systems for the Beulah Switch Rod Series
The
Beulah Switch series of fly rods are designed specifically
to present today's multi-tip interchangeable spey lines,
shooting head systems and extreme grain weight forward line
systems. The marriage of these line systems to the Beulah
Switch series of rods will allow the angler to achieve an
incredibly wide variety of casting techniques and fly presentations.
These various line systems although very simple, are critical
to maximize the diverse potentials of these rods. The following
line recommendations will assure you of these potentials:
Guide
Series Lines
We
have now developed our own series of all purpose cold water
lines specifically for our 10'6" Switch rods. The "Guide
Series".
These
are extreme grain weight forward floating lines: In essence
short belly spey tapers. They have incremental belly lengths
in direct proportion to their grain weights. Belly lengths
will vary from 45' to 54'.They are available in 3/4 wt to
10/11 wt and will match perfectly to all of the 10'6"
switch rods.
These
are line tapers that will achieve the full potentials of
these extremely diverse rods. They are totally suitable
for all delivery applications: Single hand double haul,
single hand spey, two hand overhead and all classic change-of-direction
two hand spey deliveries. ideal for both cold fresh and
salt water environments.
They
can be used as wet and dry fly greaseliners, skating and
rifle hitching, dead drift fly, highstick nymphing, indicator
nymphing and on stillwaters. They are also suitable for
various sink rate tips and can be set up with interchangeable
sink tip line systems.

Rio
Outbound Shooting Heads
The
new Rio Outbounds have also proven to be superb shooting
head lines for all of the Switch Rods. These are most suitable
for the angler that will want the classic Scandinavian tapered
shooting head in the mid 30' length. These lines are not
so long that will dump in the back on the back cast, yet
long enough that they will perform perfectly with both single
or two handed overhead deliveries.
The
grain distribution within their tapers will maximize forward
distance and the progressive front tapers will allow for
a sweet straight line presentation at the shot. They have
a broad range of floating and various sink rate lines that
will meet literally all cold water fishing conditions.
Rio
Skagit Shooting Heads
The
Rio Skagits are perfect lines for the angles that will wish
to deliver the shorter bellied shooting heads to deliver
sink tip systems. The 10'6" switch rods most suitable
for the Rio Skagits will be the 8/9 to 10/11 rods.....Best
utilizing the 350 to 550 grain lines.
Monic
Tropical Seamless Phantom Shooting Heads
Simply
put: There are no warm salt water friendly shooting heads
more suitable for either single or two handed overhead delivery
than the Monic Tropical Seamless lines. They do everything
that the cold water Rio Outbounds will do, but are suitable
for water temps incluiding and beyond 75 degrees F. The
ease that these lines will deliver and the variety of lines
available within the Phantom series will totally fill the
tropical salt water angler's dance card for all shallow
water gamefish.
